Espresso Martini Cocktail

Espresso Martini Cocktail

Raving a sweet, boozy way to wake up, post-dinner? The Espresso Martini has just what you need. A jolt of caffeine made decadent with a creamy coffee liquor served up in a classy V-shaped glass, garnished with a few coffee beans. Though it’s an easy, three-ingredient cocktail, it’s super versatile and can be made with almost any spirit, espresso and your choice of coffee liquor, most often Kahlúa.

This classic cocktail has been around for quite some time now. While most bartenders have their own twist on how to make it, the story goes that the original Espresso Martini was invented in the early 80’s in London by Dick Bradsell. According to legend, a supermodel walked into his bar and asked for something that would “wake her up and mess her up,” and so the Espresso Martini was born.

  • 1⅓ Parts Absolut Vodka
  • ⅔ Part Kahlúa
  • ⅔ Part Espresso
  • 3 Whole Coffee Beans
  • Ice Cubes

  • Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with coffee beans.
  •  Prepare the espresso coffee beforehand and let it chill. That will help to minimize the dilution, make your drink colder and even tastier!
  • When shaking: Remember to wake the drink to life, do not rock it to bed. That will also improve the frothy foam on top of your final drink
  • When straining: Make sure to pour the drink brisk and swift from your shaker. That will help getting all that beautiful foam out and land on top of your drink.
